CEHSI Hosts Workshop on Horticulture Sustainability and Climate Change
The Center of Excellence for Horticulture Skills in India (CEHSI), under CEASI, organized a workshop on "sustainable Horticulture Practices Amid Climate Change", attended by over 300 delegates and farmers. Dr. Arjun Singh Saini, HOD (Special), Horticulture Department, Haryana, was the chief guest, joined by Dr. Satendra Singh Arya (ASCI CEO), Dr. Joginder Singh (HTI Principal), and Dr. R.K. Yadav (CSSRI Director). The workshop featured expert talks on modern horticulture, water conservation, and climate resilience, followed by a panel discussion addressing key agricultural challenges and solutions, fostering knowledge exchange for sustainable farming.

CEHSI Conducts 3-Day Residential Training cum exposure visit program for Women Farmers
CEHSI successfully conducted a three-day residential training program for 30 women farmers on FPO development under the HPSHIVA Project, funded by the Asian Development Bank, from November 30 to December 2, 2024, in Karnal. The training aimed to enhance women farmers' knowledge of collective farming, market linkages, and agri-business development. As part of the program, participants visited CS Mushroom Farm, Pehowa; PVPC Group – Pehowa Vegetable Producer Ltd (FPO); SRS Horticulture Farm; and CSTF, Ladwa, gaining hands-on experience in sustainable farming, value addition, and cooperative business models. This initiative reinforces CEHSI’s commitment to empowering women farmers, fostering entrepreneurship, and promoting sustainable agricultural growth.

Capacity Building Program Empowers Apricot Farmers in Kargil
CEHSI, in collaboration with the Horticulture Department, Kargil, and the Ladakh Skill Development Mission, successfully organized a three-day capacity-building program for apricot farmers from September 4th to 6th, 2024. The training empowered 35 local farmers with advanced skills in orchard management, post-harvest processing, market linkages, and productivity enhancement. Experts provided insights on best practices for tree care, efficient harvesting, and improving fruit quality to extend shelf life, while sessions on market strategies helped farmers explore better sales opportunities. This initiative aligns with the Ladakh Skill Development Mission’s vision of fostering sustainable agricultural growth by equipping farmers with modern techniques to enhance productivity and profitability.

CEHSI Organised Successful Workshop Empowering Horticulture Entrepreneurship
The Centre of Excellence for Horticulture Skills in India, in collaboration with MSME DFO Karnal, conducted an Entrepreneurship Development Workshop at the Horticulture Training Institute in Karnal. Over 120 participants, including students, farmers, and women from self-help groups, attended the event. The workshop provided essential skills and knowledge in business planning, market analysis, schemes for setting up enterprises, and financial options for start-ups. Expert guidance helped attendees navigate challenges and leverage opportunities in horticulture entrepreneurship, fostering growth and innovation in the sector.

CEHSI Celebrated World Youth Skills Day with Potting Competition and Plantation Drive
On July 15th, 2024, the Centre of Excellence for Horticulture Skills in India (CEHSI) marked World Youth Skills Day by hosting a potting competition and plantation drive at the Demonstration and Training Centre in Karnal. The event aimed to encourage youth engagement in horticulture and environmental care. Dr. Joginder Singh, JD cum Principal of HTI Karnal, graced the occasion, motivating participants and highlighting the importance of skill development in horticulture. The event was a successful celebration of youth skills, fostering a sense of responsibility towards sustainable practices and green initiatives.

CEHSI Conducted Training Program on Elite Kitchen and Rooftop Organic Gardening
The Centre of Excellence for Horticulture Skills in India (CEHSI), under the Agriculture Skill Council of India (ASCI) and CEASI, recently organized a two-day training program titled "Harvest at Home: Elite Kitchen and Rooftop Organic Nutrition Gardening" on August 13th and 14th, 2024. Held at the Training cum Demonstration Centre in Karnal, the event offered participants hands-on training and expert demonstrations on sustainable gardening practices. Key topics included maintenance mastery, home nursery basics, cost-effective organic methods, and innovative techniques for rooftop and vertical gardening. Attendees had the opportunity to interact with experts, enhancing their skills in productive and affordable home gardening.
